Every girl needs a boyfriend shirt in their catalogue of clothes. It is an essential staple item and something you can throw on and really never go wrong with. They are comfortable and stylish which makes for a winning combo in my books. This shirt is from the new Gant Rugged collection and it’s gone straight to the top of my favourites out of the many many striped shirts I own. It’s a really breathable material and the oversized fit gives you a cool boyish edge which I have given a girly twist here by wearing a lacey peach harness bra underneath.

I love to wear boyfriend style shirts open quite low rather than buttoned up to the collar, I just prefer the way they look when worn this way. I have also worn this with a black thicker body harness which is more of a harsh look but still looks really cool and edgy. It will be on my Instagram soon. Gant has some really nice shirts at the moment (among all the other new in pieces I wanted). They also offer a fab new click and collect service which is really good if you work or live in a town with a Gant store.

I paired up the smart shirt with rip knee skinny jeans to have a good balance of smart/casual, I went back to smart again for the footwear so the over all look has a good mix of styles. The studs on the shoes are silver so I opted for my silver watch and because of the harness there was no need for a necklace. I really adore this shirt and am looking forward to wearing it over my summer away. I will be having it unbuttoned low with my Levis reclaimed vintage denim shorts, my never-off-my-face Ray Ban sunnies and some sassy sandals for an effortless summer style.
