I got this checked shirt about a week or so ago. I was doing my usually daily browsing of the new in sections on numerous sites when I came across this on ASOS. The check and tartan trend has been about for a little while now an it still seems to be going strong. I hadn’t really jumped on the tartan bandwagon like crazy as there was only certain pieces I actually liked on the high street. However the ‘laundry bag’ (as it has been dubbed) style check is one that I am a big fan of. There is dupes of the Celine style print all over the high street so you can bag yourself a piece of the check action very easily. FYI, Topshop have done some amazing Celine dupe slip ons for a mere twenty pounds!! They come in two colour ways and are well worth getting as I can’t see them being in stock for very long.
Back to this shirt, I bought this along with a few other goodies and when it arrived I was very pleased with it. It is a thicker sort of material and I love the deep burgundy and forest green tones in it. It’s pretty much the perfect colour to dress with gold accessories. The sleeves are a little longer than I usually like so I just rolled them up once to my preferred length. The slight crop length of it is really flattering and compliments it’s boxy style fit. I went for smaller size as boxy fit tops tend to drown you if you get them in a bigger size. It hangs just the way I wanted it to and just tends to be a good all round casual day shirt.
I teamed the shirt with my ankle grazer Jamie’s in a nice indigo blue, a gold lion head necklace that I bagged for £1.59 from eBay and my new ASOS patent Mandem loafers. I adore these beautiful shoes. I had been looking for a masculine pair of loafers for a while and then these came onto my phone screen and it was an instant lust-have. They were 35.00 and they are great for giving an outfit a boyish twist. I don’t usually go for patent but these flats just work so well that I caved on my usual non-patent policy. To keep within the masculine zone I put on my beloved, much worn MK boyfriend watch.
It was my sisters baby shower yesterday so I wanted to keep my outfit casual but something a little more than just a comfy jumper or t-shirt. The day was lovely getting to see friends that I don’t often get to see and there was a really nice happy atmosphere with everyone’s excitement over whether it will be a boy or a girl. Not long to go and I cannot wait to get my Aunty duties into action!
Have a good week everyone, I should get my video that I filmed today uploaded towards the end of the week, it is going to be an ASOS & Topshop haul of the bits I’ve bought in the last two weeks.
