I decided to give a nod to the of-the-minute 90’s trend but in a very subtle way. Rather than a pair of ‘mom’ jeans and a high neck bandage crop top adorned with giant gold hoops and a shirt tied round my waist Rihanna style, I went for a not so loud approach with just a couple of elements. I wore a chunky gold link necklace with a pair of light denim raw edge baggy shorts. I bought the look up to date with a pretty floral crop top with cut out detail on the back to balance the boyish/girly pieces and bring them together.
I got this top as a last minute impulse order while browsing the Topshop site just before I came back to Greece this summer. I had seen it online and ummed and aahed for a couple of weeks before deciding to finally get it.
It’s a great little summer top, good for injecting a pop of colour into an outfit. I like the small hole cut out detail on the back too, It’s small enough to keep it casual.
The shorts were an old pair of high waisted roll up bottom 90’s style shorts. I lost a bit of weight and these no longer sat high up on my waist line meaning that when worn, the shorts were a lot longer than they were supposed to be worn and didn’t look as good. So I decided to get the scissors out and adapt them. I cut the leg length higher up so that I could carry on wearing them. I don’t have too many pairs of lighter coloured denim shorts which is why I was reluctant to throw them away or stick them on eBay. Now they are the perfect baggy-ish shorts that look good with a breton tee tucked scruffily tucked in at the front for a laid back casual look or a crop top like I wore here to balance out the boyish style of the shorts.
