I got this top a lifetime ago, it was the only one instore at the time as it was ordered online and returned to the shop. Luckily I was on hand to give it a loving home. As they say ‘one’s trash is another’s treasure!’ I would love to know who ‘they’ actually is! That’s a whole different story though. Back to what I know best and that is talking about clothes.
When I saw that this top was a size 14 my heart sank a little as after checking online I saw that it had sold out (don’t you hate it when that happens?!) I don’t give up that easily though. I took myself and this piece of gorgeous-ness off to the changing room and was pleasantly surprised that when on I actually quite liked the baggier fit of it. I liked the way the sides hung lower and it sat nicely right on the waist band of my jeans. I gave a joyful little punch in the air and happily bounced over to the tills.
Fast forward about 6 years and I am standing on my balcony posing for pictures to share my little find with you.
I love the delicacy of this top. The sheer material with scattered sequins and tiny tube beads forming a floral pattern on the front is the perfect combination for that girly vintage look. The back is also mesh material with a single zip running up the middle, the sequin pattern wraps around onto the top shoulder area and outline the edges of the top as well as the zip. The sequins and beads are starting to slowly but surely drop off one by one which was inevitably going to happen but 6 years worth of wear with I reckon at least 1 more to go is not bad going at all.
The jeans are my go-to faves, Topshop Jamie’s. I now have these jeans is so many various colours and denim shades as I just find them to be the perfect fit. I love these darker ones because they were made with an ankle grazer cut and they add a bit more of a summer feel to outfits because of the ever so slightly shorter length of the leg.
The shoes are just a simple strappy leopard pair I snapped up last year and have worn to death. They are not too loud and I can grab these when I don’t want to wear boring plain black sandals.
