I know all the Gatsby hype has died down now but recently after rummaging through a suitcase that I had packed full of summer clothes at the end of last year and completely forgotten about, which I found tucked away under my bed, I stumbled upon this dress which I picked up last year for an absolute steal at £3….yes you read that right, £3!!! I also got it in a gorgeous pale salmon pink colour too. £6 for two dresses? Yes please!
I might look quite dressed up for no particular occasion other than work but I work in a bar every night of the summer season so I like to be dressed nicely and slightly more dressed up than usual. Everyone is always at their best on holiday with their perfectly picked out summer wardrobe so it kind of encourages me to always dress nicely and I actually really enjoy dressing up so it’s perfect.
This dress is a light floaty chiffon material, it came with a slip underneath but I found it really uncomfortable and restricting so I cut them out and I always wear them with a long Topshop boob tube underneath now. I love how girly they are and make me feel when I wear them and I always get so many compliments on them both. They are fairly long so I always tend to wear them with a skinny belt around my waist to hitch them up slightly as when left to hang loose they sometime make my legs look more stumpy as the dress cuts them off a bit.
I picked out this gold bar belt to break the look up a bit and kept with the gold theme by wearing my studded t-bar sandals. I think the gold gives it more of a modern edge as sometimes the 20’s look can look very aging if worn in the wrong way. I kept with the Gatsby/20’s trend by wearing a slick of bright red lipstick to help the look pop a bit more.
What are your thoughts on 20’s fashion? Do you add elements to your outfits or do you think it belongs in the past not to be revisited?
