On Wednesday I attended the Company Magazine style blogger awards. Although I am gutted to say I didn’t win, I am also very happy that my blog made it to the final 10 shortlisted blogs out of all the ones throughout the country that were nominated and as a result I got invited to these amazing awards! Every cloud has a silver lining…
They were held in the ever so trendy Truman Brewery in Corbet Place. The bloggers came flooding in from all over the country from as far as Scotland and even France. If there there was an award for who travelled the furthest I think I could have won that one with my two day round trip from Greece.
The event certainly didn’t disappoint. The bloggers went all out with their ensembles and definitely gave everyone a bit of fash-piration. The most stylish bloggers in the country all gathered in one place, it was the perfect setting for a fash-off (the fashion worlds version of a dance off). I was very apprehensive as what to expect as going on my own was quite a scary thought. I had visions of scenes from The Devil Wear Prada, but as all the of us were in the same boat, we were all a little nervous and what can I say? Bloggers are the loveliest people around!
Everyone was so lovely and friendly even though we were all up against each other to win the awards. You would think we were all long lost best friends. All the girls got on so well and we chatted away over our love of fashion and beauty all night. It was a nice relaxed mood and getting to know people in the flesh rather than through their profile pictures and in 140 characters on twitter was great.
There was free flowing champagne all night and company kindly gave us two free cocktail vouchers. Sushi platters also were being offered around by the lovely staff. The music was perfect for the occasion and got everyone in the party mood.
New Look had some gorgeous new pieces from their Autumn/Winter ’13 collection for us lucky girls to preview. They had some amazing necklaces on show too, it’s getting me excited for Winter and we haven’t even had summer yet! The lovely people at the ‘Pinned it, Made it!’ stand were offering us free sunglasses to customise and keep. I went for a ombré pink to purple round pair and pimped them up with daisies and pearls.
There was also a stand from The Vintage Cosmetic Company giving girls a make over and applying false lashes. The Paul Mitchell hair station was also giving girls amazing to-die-for beachy waves. Then there was the photbooth and props provided by the people at dream booth. It was such a laugh, you got pick from an array of silly hats and glasses and pose for four pictures in either colour or black & white. I went in with Megan from Scottish Tea (Check it out! she is one cool cat) and Skye from Even Artichokes Have Hearts (I know, cutest name ever, right?!) We did one in colour and one in black & white and both times I wasn’t prepared for the wind blast on the 2 middle photos (hence why in those two I look very unimpressed)
The whole night was amazing and before we left we were given goody bags full of amazing stuff such has a beanie hat, the next issue of Company ahead of it n sale, vintage print nail files, OPI nail polish, Batiste dry shampoo, Paul Mitchell curl cream, a tangle comb, Elemis face exfoliator and matte moisturiser, raspberry bon bons, Soap & Glory matte lipstick in Pom Pom and looooads more!
I am beyond happy I got to experience it and meet the other lovely bloggers who were shortlisted. I also got to meet Victoria the lovely editor at Company who couldn’t have been any nicer. It’s made me more determined to keep blogging as I love it more and more everyday and hopefully next year you never know, I could be walking away with an award with a bit of luck and lots of votes!
Sounds like a good night
