Trousers: American Apparel ‘Disco Pants’
Sorry for the quiet absence over the last week, I went to Athens with my boyfriend. It was amazing and I will 100% definitely be going back again. I am back in Corfu, the sun is shining and I’m feeling inspired and summery so I decided to rock the gold discos!
I turned the cuffs up to dress them down a little. I umm-ed and aah-ed about whether to get them in this colour for a long time. I just didn’t know if I would end up actually wearing them and for £74 they aren’t something you just buy for the sake of it. I caved in the end and am I glad I did because I love them! Disco pants look like the most uncomfortable and restricting bottoms you could possibly wear but in fact they are the complete opposite.
They are a nice thickness so they really hold you in but at the same time they are stretchy and you can move so easily in them unlike a pair of super skin tight jeans for instance. They can be dressed up or down depending on what you wear them with and they are now a staple in my wardrobe. I have 3 pairs now and the black ones nearly need replacing because I have worn them to death.
I know £74 may be a little steep for some people but I’ve worn mine so many times that the cost per wear is great value. Thats how I like to think of things when I buy slightly more expensive items. If I think that the cost per wear isn’t going to be fairly low within 3-6 months I don’t think that the item is probably worth the cost.
The t-shirt is one of my favourite new pieces. I really liked it when it first came out around January time but it sold out and I was gutted so to see this back in stock made me very happy indeed. It was £45 which people might think, for a t-shirt?! but its faux leather and just something very different to a standard boyfriend tee. A real leather one would cost a lot more than that and I’ve already worn it a few times so I know I will get a lot of use from this in the future.
I added the necklace just for a bit of colour to mix it up a bit so it wasn’t all black and gold. The necklace was one I saw posted on Instagram by a very talented girl who makes wonderful custom made clothes. Her Instagram name is ‘prettylittlepoppet’ and well worth a look. It’s from H&M. The colours are gorgeous and so bright.
I was very very happy as last night I found out that I made the final 10 shortlist in the Company Magazine Style Blogger Awards 2013. Please could you all vote for me in the first category (best personal style newcomer) gillianleerose.wordpress
You can skip the next 9 categories by clicking next page and then it will either ask you for your name and email address on the last page and you click submit or it automatically registers and goes straight to the ‘Thank you for voting’ page for some people. It works out different depending on how you vote, via iphone, tablet, PC etc. It would mean the absolute world to win this award and I really need every vote I can get. Its very easy and really only take 2 minutes to complete.
